In New Jersey, Intensive In-Community (IIC) Services are short-term, solution-focused therapeutic interventions provided by PerformCare New Jersey’s Children’s System of Care to support youth with moderate to complex behavioral and mental health needs and their families. These services offer in-home and community-based therapy, behavioral assistance, and family support to help stabilize youth and improve functioning, preventing the need for more intensive levels of care. To access IIC services, you must first contact PerformCare for an assessment and coordination of services.

What are IIC Services?

  • Goal-Oriented:Services are designed to stabilize youth and families and build skills to improve their functioning at home and in the community. 
  • Youth and Family-Centered:Interventions are tailored to meet the specific needs and cultural values of the youth and family. 
  • Time-Limited:IIC services are short-term, intended to support the family in the community until they can transition to less intensive services or maintain stability. 
  • Integrated:IIC is part of a broader network of services offered by the New Jersey Children’s System of Care (CSOC) for children with behavioral health challenges, and developmental disabilities. 

Services Provided

  • In-Home Therapy: Licensed therapists provide individual and family therapy sessions in the home and community. 
  • Behavioral Assistance: Certified behavioral assistants provide in-home support, focusing on behavior modification, skill-building, and modeling for both the youth and family. 
  • Biopsychosocial (BPS) assessment: is a comprehensive clinical tool used in community mental health settings to evaluate a client’s biological, psychological, and social needs. For children and young adults, this assessment is often conducted in the community or the family home by licensed therapists who are part of the New Jersey Children’s System of Care (CSOC), which is administered by PerformCare.

  2.  Assessment (BPS):An in-home assessment will determine the need for IIC services and link you with the appropriate provider.
